The Bearspaw Village Park has been a recreational cornerstone in the community for over 30 years. Unfortunately, in recent years, the park has fallen into disrepair. The impetus for this project was for the County to engage the local Bearspaw Village and Watermark communities to receive input regarding the future redesign of the park.

The primary goal of the project is to determine current need; predict future need; determine how to properly plan and provide amenities for the area residents which are proportional to true need rather than wants, and lastly, how to determine the best amenities for the given location. The goal is not to duplicate recreational and community amenities in the local area, but rather  to complement and enhance the recreational and cultural opportunities available for area residents.

In October, local residents were invited to participate in a workshop to gather ideas for park amenities and features to be included in a redesign. The contracted consultant, O2 Planning + Design, transformed the community input into the concept renderings below. These renderings were presented to the residents at an open house held December 15, 2014.

The next phase of the project will involve determining the operational structure of the park and how to effectively implement and phase in the concepts as a built form.

The County will keep area residents updated with progress on this project.
