Assessment Review Board

Role of Committee

  • For the purpose of hearing complaints about any assessment or taxation matters described in Section 460(1) of the M.G.A.
  • The Assessment Review Board's operations and procedures for filing complaints are covered at length in the Assessment section.

Membership

  • One Member Local Assessment Review Board consisting of one (1) Local Member
  • Local Assessment Review Board consisting of three (3) Local Members
  • Composite Assessment Review Board consisting of two (2) Local Members and one (1) Provincial Member
  • Starting January 1, 2010, each Assessment Review Board member is required to complete both the Administrative Law II and the Principles of Assessment course
  • A per diem and mileage is paid.

Term/Expiry

  • Three year term, in a manner that the expiry date of appointments are staggered

  • At the call of the Chair (Chair is determined at each meeting)

Vacant positions will be advertised in the local newspaper, and on this website.

Appointment of members to boards and committees takes place at the annual organizational meeting of Council.
